Azimuth is a Lombax who was exiled after his mistake, not left behind when his race fled from Emperor Tachyon. He had previously been a good friend of Kaden, Ratchet's father. His history is defined by a catastrophic mistake: he gave Tachyon the technology that allowed the warlord to build his fleet and wage war, for which Azimuth was exiled. Years later, he learned of Clank's capture at the Great Clock and guessed this based on his own research. Teaming up with Ratchet, they sought an Obsidian Eye to talk to Clank, which was obtained earlier on Sargasso. During their journey, Azimuth revealed his indirect responsibility for the near-extinction of his race. He planned to use the Great Clock to rewrite history and save the Lombaxes, believing this risk was worth it despite warnings from Orvus about the damage to reality. In the final confrontation, Clank locked Azimuth out of the Orvus Chamber before Azimuth struck Ratchet, injuring him, but Ratchet later recovered.

In Their Own Story

On Torren IV, Ratchet tracked down Azimuth with intel from Captain Qwark. Upon meeting, Azimuth explained that Clank had been taken to the Great Clock based on his research. They decided to team up to find an Obsidian Eye so they could communicate with him. While searching for the Eye on planet Lumos, Azimuth hesitantly confessed he was indirectly responsible for the near-extinction of the Lombaxes because he gave Tachyon their technology. He planned to use the Clock to rewrite history, offering Ratchet a chance to get his family back. After finding the Eye and speaking with Clank, they traveled to Zanifar where Ratchet used a time portal to rescue Orvus from Nefarious. Azimuth was later kidnapped by Lord Vorselon, forcing Ratchet to save him. When Nefarious trapped them on Morklon, Azimuth returned to help them escape. At the Great Clock, after Clank decided to stay behind, Azimuth insisted they could still use the machine to save the Lombaxes. He struck and killed Ratchet before racing for the Orvus Chamber but was locked out by Clank.

Alister Azimuth is a pivotal character whose actions drive the climax of the game. Players encounter him on Torren IV after following Qwark's intel. His character arc involves revealing his guilt over giving Tachyon Lombax technology and his plan to use the Great Clock to fix history.
